K48x48v.f00 is the 48x48 bit version of the original 48x48 bit fonts
included in the JWP package, but in vertical format. I used the
jwpvfont.zip (also available on ftp.cc.monash.edu.au) to rotate the
fonts to the left 90 degrees, then used the font editor to move the
small hiragana/katakana characters, the period, and the comma to a more
acceptable location. I also rotated the "-" character (as used in
foreign words such as "bi-ru" and "konpyuta-") 90 degrees so that it
would also be vertical.
